Winner Take All

Redskins vs Dallas
This is it for both teams. They must lay it all on the line. The winner will win the NFC East Champions. RGIII vs Romo. Too much pressure to place on the QBs. Romo has thrown two interceptions in the first quarter. Too much pressure! The winners will move on to the playoffs and the losers will go home. Tied at 7 each at the half. Only time will tell!

It Was A Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas,
We have a tradition of reading the story of Jesus' birth on Christmas morning, however this year, I reread the homily from the 4th Sunday of Advent from our Priest. The question we must ask ourselves, Where is God in all that is happening in my life? What is God up to in these things that are happening to me? What is God trying to accomplish through me in all of this? The meaning and purpose of our lives is exclusively a matter of faith, something we must leave in the hands of God, after allowing Him to dwell in us, and after offering our lives to Him and leaving them at His disposal. What is important and central to everything is that we have faith, a faith in which we places ourselves and our lives into the hands of God who love us.

Voting-I Approved This Message!

We Voted!
We voted this morning.  Our sons voted absentee ballot. It was so nice to see the long lines of people exercising their right to vote.  We often take voting for granted.  I overheard people saying the last time I voted, the polling location was at the elementary school.  That was four years ago. My goodness, all elections are important, not just the presidential election.

This was the first year that we did not have at least one of our sons in tow.  Seeing so many parents with children at the polls was heartwarming.

I believe that if you do not vote, you have no right to complain, deal with it.

Regardless of the outcome, I am so happy that I do not have to hear another "I approved this message".

Army Ten-Miler

It was a beautiful day to run the Army Ten-Miler.  The weather was perfect.  As you can see from the pictures, we earned our finishers medal.  Now, I need to properly train for next year.

Let's Do It Again

Today, we pickup our bib numbers for the Army Ten-Miler.  My number is 25099, not sure of hubby's number.   We two of the 30,100 registered for this year.  We ran together in 1994, and my number was 4334, which goes to show the gradual increase of runners over the last 18 years.  It has been a long time since we have run this race together, but we are going to do it again, Sunday!  I think we can gut out 10-miles.  The last Army Ten-Miler I ran was in 2010, slipped, and fell at mile 9.  I quickly recovered although I had a nasty gash on my chin and left shoulder.  I hope to have a better time of it this year.  The weather is supposed to be nice. I hope so.  See the picture of us back in the day.  We were almost at the finish line.

Twenty

We all have so much to say, so I thought I would join the conversation and capture the goings on in my life at home without children. Our youngest son is away at college, and our older son is two hours south of DC in technical school.  Lord, I pray he can graduate soon.  So, the bottom line is our house is empty.  I swore that I would not fall into the empty nest syndrom of being sad that my children have left home and going about their lives.  That is what I did some years ago....So, I am focusing on the next phase of life.  From what I hear, it is supposed to be fun! My husband and I can actually run around the house in our birthday suits, play house, hang out late (not really), and who all knows whats in store. So, the nest is not exactly empty, because we are still here and full of life! So here is to living the life after children.

More to follow!
